Media Center Hours
- We are open from 7:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays and from 7am until 3:30 pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
- The Media Center is open before school, during study halls, during the lunch block, after school and periods where a class has not already made an appointment
- Students are required to have a MEDIA CENTER PASS (Red Emergency Pass) and a student ID to gain access during school hours.
- A pass is not required before school.
- After school, students need to be in the Media Center by 2:30 p.m. If you are arriving after an activity or after extra help, a pass is required from your teacher or activity advisor.

Policies and Procedures
Student
- All students must have a pass from a teacher during the block periods
- Two students may be admitted on one teacher/emergency pass
- Students may take out only books for a two-week period
- No students may take out DVDs or VHS tapes, reference materials
- Only 3 books may be checked out at the same time.
- Students may renew up to 3 times
- All lost or damaged beyond repair books must be replaced or the given fine may be applied to a student’s account in Genesis
- Students will be notified of overdue materials through homeroom folder. After 2 notices, a fine will be issued in Genesis
- Students arriving from a study hall must be working on an academic pursuit during time in the media center otherwise they will be sent back to study hall
- Students may not have food or open containers of liquid in the media center
- Students may not plug phones into computers using a USB cable
- Students may use outlets to charge devices
Lunch Block
- No food is allowed in media center during the lunch block
- Students may utilize any open and unoccupied area or computer, excluding the conference room
- Students must be considerate of other around and mindful of how collaborative discussion affects surroundings. Failure to maintain an acceptable level may result in being asked to leave by staff
- All students must sign in and out at the circulation desk during the lunch block
Teachers
- Teachers may use the upstairs computers, upstairs classroom area downstairs computers or conference room
- Areas should be booked in half block (40 minutes) increments through the Google calendar on the Monmouth Regional site
- Teachers have access to books, DVDs, VHS materials for check out
- Check out periods include two weeks for books, 4 weeks for DVDs and VHS
- Teachers must be present during class period and actively supervising class
- Teachers are responsible for allowing students to leave media center and must distribute their pass/emergency pass
- Materials may be requested through librarian or secretary
- Teachers may send students in excess of two but must make concerted effort to inform librarian/secretary. Space is not guaranteed and staff has discretion to allow student access
- Teachers may host club meetings during lunch of after school in space. Attendance must be taken and reported to staff
Pre-School
- Students may take out two items at a time from the juvenile collection
- Books that are not returned, lost or damaged beyond repair must be replaced with an exact title or the replacement fee must be paid.
- Pre-school administrator will be responsible for communication with parents and needed restitution
Challenge
- Students, staff or parents can bring forth challenges to titles held in the media center
- Once challenged, the item will be pulled and evaluated for curricula relevancy, intellectual integrity, factual accuracy and age appropriateness by the media specialist and media center supervisor using department evaluation rubric
- If item falls below necessary threshold, item will be removed from collection
- If item is deemed worthy to remain, contesting party will be notified in writing of decision and justification for title inclusion
